Walsall Folk Dance Club
Founded 1971

Walsall Folk Dance Club is a friendly group of people coming together on a weekly basis to enjoy the wide range of folk dances around today. We use our own callers most of the time but have guest callers each term so there will be something to suit everyone. Dances from about 1650 to the present day will be found in our programmes depending on who is calling but over a term we will dance Playford, American contras, English Country Dances and Squares including singing squares with the occasional Scottish and Irish dance thrown in for good measure.

We are constantly being told to take regular exercise. Most of us don’t fancy going to the gym or joining a health club or pulling on a pair of trainers and running round the block.

Why not take some gentle exercise and, at the same time, preserve some traditions of England.

Folk dancing can give you the exercise you need in a friendly, warm environment. You don’t need special clothes and, if you’ve ever been to a Barn Dance, you will already have done some of the basic moves.

You can come on your own or with a partner and be sure of a warm welcome.

Walsall FDC meets most Thursdays at Rushall Parish Church Hall. For the club night programme and how to get there please click here
